A Winnipegger by birth, Sherry escaped the dread of prairie winters over twenty years ago
but is still mystified by the need to carry an umbrella in January. She continues to attend
creative writing classes to hone her craft and owes oodles of thanks to her writing group
and peers. Sherry is a member of The Writers & Editor’s Network in Toronto, and loves
bringing fellow authors together. She is the author of Wildflower, a monthly newsletter that
features the successes and challenges of emerging writers. With Brandon Pitts, author of
The Watchtower, Sherry co-hosts and coordinates Prana Presents.
Sherry cut her teeth on Nancy Drew Mysteries, a love that grew to include Agatha Christie,
Martha Grimes, James Patterson, Kelley Armstrong and Dean Koontz. Since Sherry can't
get enough of Sue Grafton's sassy Kinsey Millhone, she's hoping someone will extend the
alphabet. She's recently added Kate Mosse to her reading list, and yes, her teenage
daughter has her reading--and enjoying--the Twilight series.
She estimates that in her early teens she read Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret by
Judy Blume about a gazillion times. Is it any wonder that as an adult, Summer Sisters
remains her all-time fave?
New favourites? Lisa See and Wayson Choy. And Jodi Picoult is awesome!
